WHAT IS GLASS?

Glass is a transparent or translucent, usually hard, brittle, inorganic amorphous solid material that allows liquids to be retained. Glass has been used both as a construction material and as an ornamental item since the ancient times. Today, it still has a very common usage area, from simple tools to communication and space technologies.

Glass is actually a liquid. Its transparency also stems from this. A liquid has no internal boundaries. A ray of light passing through the glass does not undergo refraction or reflection. But this beam is only slightly refracted as it crosses the glass surface. Of course, these features are only valid for a transparent and qualified glass. Glasses with oxides in their structure transmit the part of the spectrum that belongs to visible light. Interesting colorings in glass can be obtained due to this feature. With the various additives added to the structure of the glass, the light absorption or light transmission properties of the glass can be reached to very surprising dimensions.
